D. Wigmore’s current exhibition is the first retrospective for American Op artist Tadasky. The artist has worked with the single form of the circle for over five decades using line, color, and texture to achieve tremendous variety in movement, light, and volume. Tadasky / Control + Invention / 1964-2008 coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Museum of Modern Art’s exhibition The Responsive Eye, which identified Op art as an international movement.

Tadasky’s work, like his peers in The Responsive Eye, represented a shift from painting as object toexperience. Op art remains relevant today with its connection to today’s immersive art while connecting to the past through its Bauhaus foundation. The exhibition continues through April 25th.

All conservation and framing for this exhibition was performed by Lowy. Deedee Wigmore, president of the gallery, says: “I began working with Lowy in 1972 as director of American paintings for M. Knoedler and Company who had relied on Lowy for conservation and framing for decades. I am still using Lowy after all these years which says it all.”
