Multitalented artist Arbit Blatas studied and painted in Paris with the likes of Chaim Soutine, Pierre Bonnard, Edouard Vuillard, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Andre Derain, Maurice Utrillo, and many others. He painted and sculpted them as well as landscapes, still lifes, and interiors from Venice, Paris, and New York, where he had art studios, and from other cities he visited.
For many years, Blatas was a regular presence at Lowy. He would drop by, paint our interiors, and prevent our artisans from getting any work done while he was on site. We will forever remember him as a very dear member of the Lowy family.
